Makeup:
Even if you are reluctant to wear makeup – you should wear some at your photo shoot – if not you may risk being washed out in your photos.

Apply about 25 % more makeup than you think is required by the time the photos are taken, and that travelling to and from is completed that excess amount will have literally disappeared into thin air.

If you want the best results for your make up utilise a professional makeup artist. Then you can sit back and relax. Book a few trial session to see which colours and ‘looks’ that you like the best, and that truly reflect you.

On your wedding day, pack a small bag with a compact powder, some long wearing lippy, perfume, and don’t forget the waterproof mascara for those ‘tears of joy’.

Using natural light:
You may be surprised to learn that cloudy, overcast days provide the best lighting for pictures of people. Bright sun makes people squint, and it throws harsh shadows on their faces. On overcast days, the soft light flatters faces. Indoors, try turning off the flash and use the light coming in from a window to give your subject a soft, almost glowing appearance.

When having portrait photos done, the aim is for you to relax and fall into a natural pose. Try your photo shoot photos in your favorite place, or at least a comfortable place. Meaningful props items, like a trophy, a musical instrument, or even a teddy, can add interest.

Use a simple background that is uncluttered. The attention is then drawn to the subject – not the background ending up with a stronger more emotive picture.
